Despite Melo's 24, Knicks Fall To Raptors in Toronto

How it happened:

The Knicks' second preseason game featured another close finish but did not yield the same result as Wednesday night's in Providence.  Toronto battled back down the stretch behind Quincy Acy’s unexpected outburst to topple NewYork 100-91 on Friday night.

The Knicks seemed in control following a third quarter rally, but Acy responded with a run of his own, scoring seven quick points in four minutes.

New York blitzed the Raptors with a 12-0 run to conclude the third quarter -- the combination of Iman Shumpert and rookie Tim Hardaway Jr. leading the charge.  The pair combined for 23 points in the losing effort.

Carmelo Anthony was brilliant in the early stages and finished with a game-high 24 points.  Andrea Bargnani posted 10 in his return to Toronto, and Metta World Peace dropped 13 in his second game in a Knicks uniform.

New York fell to 1-1 in the preseason with the loss. They will face the Raptors one more time in exhibition play, nine days from now at the Air Canada Centre.

Knick of the Night:
Anthony found his midseason groove by pouring in 20 of his 24 points in the first half.  The All-Star nailed 9-of-17 shots from the perimeter, hauled down eight boards, dished out three assists, and snatched three steals in just 25 minutes of court time.  Anthony did not play in the final stanza.

Looking Ahead:
The Knicks will jump on a plane to Boston following tonight's contest in Toronto.  Tomorrow afternoon, the team will travel by bus to Hartford where it will square off against the Celtics for the second time in three nights.
