How it Happened:

For the second straight game, the Knicks exploded out of the gates and never looked back. Wednesday night in Minnesota, they matched a season high for points in a quarter (38), only to top it tonight by scoring 39 against the Utah Jazz at Madison Square Garden.

Coach Mike Woodson's team improved to 2-1 since J.R. Smith (17 points) and Amar'e Stoudemire (10 in 19 minutes) joined the starting lineup, playing well enough early that he could afford to rest his starters late.

It was another team effort, as the Knicks dished out 24 assists as a team to Utah's 12.

Knick of the Night:

Carmelo Anthony led all scorers with 29 points by also had a season high eight assists.

Looking Ahead:

The Knicks are off to Cleveland, where they take on the Cavs tomorrow in a game with potential playoff implications.
