Iman Shumpert was the catalyst for the Knicks' third quarter explosion. He had six points at the half, and then drilled three daggers from beyond the arc in the decisive frame. When it was over, 11 of Shump's 17 points came in the third. He also snared six rebounds and pick-pocketed his way to two steals.
Like Bargnani, the confidence and attitude Shumpert played with showed a fight in the Knicks we haven't seen very often this season.
Shumpert has had a tendency to put the ball on the floor and drive into the teeth of the defense this season. On Thursday night he spotted up along the perimeter and let it fly. Shump will elevate his game to the next level if he can mix in timely long-range shooting with his ability to slash to the basket.
