Shootaround Report: Melo's Free Agency, Metta's Absence, & More

Melo’s Free Agency
Carmelo Anthony discussed the article that was recently published on his pending free agency.  The All-Star forward had this to say at Knicks shootaround in Baltimore:

“When the time comes during the offseason, I will definitely explore it.  Does that mean I’m not coming back to New York?  Not at all.  But it’s definitely an opportunity I’m willing to explore and experience and things like that.   That not whatsoever means I’m not coming back to New York or I don’t want to be here in New York, so I don’t want anybody to get that impression of what that story has told.

Head coach Mike Woodson made it quite clear, he does not see the reigning scoring champ leaving NYC, “I don’t see him leaving, that’s just my thought.”

Melo Returns To Baltimore
For the first time since high school Anthony will hit the hardwood in Baltimore.  As one of the elite players in the NBA, the superstar couldn’t have envisioned this fairytale story.

“This was a dream I never thought would come true but I’m living the dream right now,” Anthony smiled.

Yesterday, Anthony appeared at the Melo Center to help with a renovation.  New backboards were installed, new paint on the walls, and he hosted a program for the kids.

Metta’s Thursday Night Absence
Metta World Peace did not travel with the team to Baltimore due to a sore right ankle.  The Knicks held him back for precautionary reasons but Woodson said the defensive specialist could play if the game took place in the regular season.

Watch all the action tonight on MSG Networks with tip-off scheduled for 7 PM.  MSG will also provide postgame analysis directly after the final buzzer.
