That's right, we're going WAY under the radar with a double dose of the Bobcats to start things off!
Sure, they went 21-61 last season and have have missed the playoffs in eight of nine seasons they've been in existence. But things could be beginning to trend upward.
Both Jeffery Taylor and Cody Zeller impressed in four games of action last month in Vegas, leading the Bobcats to the NBA Summer League Semifinals -- not coincidentally, a game both sat out and Charlotte lost. Taylor, the second-year guard out of Vanderbilt, possesses a much more impressive combination of skill and athleticism than most people seem to understand, and he finished third in Vegas with an average of 20.3 points per game. Zeller, this year's fourth overall pick, put up 16.3 points and 9.3 rebounds per game while showing signs of a jumpshot that could make him a dangerous offensive weapon.
Big free agent pickup Al Jefferson will add reliable frontcourt scoring, and with last year's No. 2 pick Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and starting point guard Kemba Walker, there is a chance this team is fun to watch -- especially when early-season optimism is running high -- if not a playoff contender just yet.
