The Draft

As mentioned earlier, the 1996 draft is one of the greatest ever. From Kobe Bryant to Ray Allen and Steve Nash, the 50th draft in NBA history was absolutely brimming with future stars. It produced four league MVP's, eight players who have made All-NBA Teams, and 10 players who have been named All-Stars.

The Raptors, heading into their second season of existence, held the second pick. Their roster was made up of veterans to go with their young, talented point guard, Damon Stoudamire. In their expansion season, the Raptors had won just 21 games. They hoped that their high draft position would yield someone who could pair with Stoudamire.

After the 76ers took Iverson with the first pick, the Raptors jumped at the chance to add Camby -- a formidable defensive stopper who showed plenty of promise and improvement each year of college.
