Tyson Chandler, Center, Dominguez High School

Drafted: 2001 by the Los Angeles Clippers, 1st Round (2nd overall)

Tyson Chandler was a high school legend turned prep-to-pro lottery pick. He dominated at Dominguez High in Compton, California. Then, despite offers from several of the top college programs, Chandler chose to enter the 2001 NBA draft. The league had yet to institute the age rule, and players like Kevin Garnett, Kobe Bryant and Tracy McGrady had successfully made the transition from high schooler to NBA superstar.

After struggling to find his place in the league, Chandler finally found his calling as a dominating rim protector, rebounder, and alley-oop finisher. Although he’s been traded several times in his career, Chandler has proven himself to be a great teammate, tireless worker, and most importantly, an NBA champion.

Let’s take a look at Tyson Chandler’s strange road to NBA stardom and the New York Knicks.
