January 3, 2013: Knicks 100, Spurs 83
The Knicks neither ended 2012 nor began 2013 in the desired fashion -- with losses to the Kings and Blazers respectively -- and so they went into a home game against the San Antonio Spurs coming off only their second two-game losing streak of the season.
J.R. Smith was a +27 for the game (the highest on the team), scoring 20 points on 9-for-17 shooting, and adding five rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block. He also reaffirmed the fact that he knows how to punctuate, hammering home a one-handed, reverse alley-oop via Pablo Prigioni that gave the Knicks a 20-point lead late in the fourth and sent the Garden into a frenzy.
