After signing him to consecutive 10-day contracts, the Knicks have agreed to terms with Kenyon Martin through the remainder of the season, they announced today.
In just under 19 minutes a game, Martin is averaging 5.7 points and 3.2 rebounds, but one can expect each of those numbers to increase as he continues to work his way back into NBA game shape -- not to mention the Knicks' need for big men to take minutes left by knee injuries to Amar'e Stoudemire, Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler.
He is coming off of his best game as a Knick last night, in which he scored 12 points in 30 minutes to go with his trademark tough defense.
Martin was a key contributor for the Clippers during last year's playoff run, and the Knicks are hopeful he will have a similar impact for them this year. He is known for his versatility, and that ability to guard three positions should provide a boost down the stretch.
