The Warriors will make their only appearance this season in the World’s Most Famous Arena on Wednesday night. David Lee has been a revelation this season for them, becoming the franchise’s first All-Star since 1997. Through 55 games, he’s leading the league in double doubles with 36. Lee is one of just 11 players averaging at least 10 points and 10 rebounds per game, and at 19.2 ppg, is the only player with a realistic shot at slapping up a 20-10 this season.
With Andrew Bogut injured again, Lee will see most of his minutes at center beside the undersized Carl Landry. This will put Tyson Chandler in difficult situations on the perimeter, while Carmelo Anthony bangs down low with Landry. It will be essential for the Knicks defense to keep Lee from getting second chance points down low. They’ll also need to execute rotations and close out hard on the Warriors lethal downtown duo, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. Those guys are capable of filling it up from deep, but David Lee is the real key to the Warriors resurgence this season. Beating the Warriors starts with Tyson Chandler containing David Lee.
