During his senior season, Chandler was again named California Mr. Basketball. He is one of five two-time winners in the 63 year history of the award, another of which is teammate Jason Kidd.
That same year, Chandler was selected to the McDonald’s High School All-American Team. Despite being highly recruited by numerous Division 1 colleges, including Michigan, Kentucky, Syracuse and UCLA, he instead declared for the 2001 NBA Draft. Chandler was the second overall pick in the draft by the Los Angeles Clippers, but was immediately traded to the Chicago Bulls.
