Shumpert will need to keep Teague out of the lane when the Knicks return to MSG to face the Hawks on Sunday. Teague’s penetration sets up Atlanta’s 3-point shooters, Anthony Morrow and Kyle Korver. If Shumpert can keep Teague in front of him, it will make it much easier for the other defenders to stay close to their men, and close out on the 3-point shooters.
This series of high-profile, intense games will certainly test Shumpert’s conditioning and recovery time. If everything goes according to plan, hopefully Shumpert will see his minutes and workload increase after this week.
