Carmelo Anthony’s sixth appearance in the midseason showcase might have a different feel than his previous five. The Knicks leading scorer is an MVP candidate on the Eastern Conference’s No. 2 squad and he is poised for a career season.
On Thursday night, the TNT crew announced Anthony was voted an Eastern Conference starter for the second consecutive season. Anthony joins Rajon Rondo, Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, and Kevin Garnett in the starting five for the All-Star game in Houston.
Anthony received 1,460,950 votes directly behind Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, and Kevin Durant as the top vote getters for the 62nd NBA All-Star game.
TNT will provide complete television coverage of the West-East battle on Sunday, Feb. 17 at 8 PM ET. All the action will take place at the Toyota Center in Houston.
Tyson Chandler finished fifth in voting in the Eastern Conference frontcourt with 467,968 votes. Amar’e Stoudemire garnered 147, 720 despite missing the start of the season with a knee injury.
