In collaboration with the Pastor Naron Tillman and Congressman Gregory Meeks , the New York Knicks visited a local relief operation at the Edgemere Housing Projects located at 57-10 Arverne Avenue, Far Rockaway NY. Amar'e Stoudemire, Rasheed Wallace, and Ronnie Brewer met with first responders, families and community members that have been affected by the storm.
Knicks players and staff had the opportunity to participate by helping unload and distribute supplies. The location is providing hot food and clothing and volunteers are making deliveries to those in need.
The MSG Network and Garden of Dreams Foundation fundraiser generated over $200,000 Friday night with net proceeds from the event being contributed to the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City and the American Red Cross, among other disaster relief organizations, to assist those throughout the tri-state area who have been impacted by Hurricane Sandy. To continue to help the relief efforts, go to www.CharityBuzz.com through November 19 to bid on a number of great experiences, including a personal shooting clinic with Steve Novak, dinner with Walt "Clyde" Frazier, a courtside seat at a Knicks game with Giants star Victor Cruz, and more.
