Opening Week presented by Chase

NYK Field Marketing & Fan Development continued to hit the streets this week promoting  “Knicks Opening Week presented by Chase” excitement throughout NYC producing events and appearances including:

12/20 Knicks Opening Week Caravan presented by Chase and Knicks City Dancers traveled to Queens to a Chase Branch location as well as Manhattan commuter locations in the morning/evening. The Street team administered trivia contests with fans at Chase to award Opening Day tickets.


12/20 Alumni Earl Monroe, Walt Frazier, John Starks and Knicks Carmelo Anthony, Iman Shumpert, Josh Harrellson and Jared Jeffries appeared at the Knicks Home for the Holiday’s Youth Clinic presented by Chase at Trinity High School in Manhattan. The Knicks participated by teaching basketball fundamentals and  spreading holiday cheer for 100 underprivileged children including some kids from the Garden of Dreams Foundation. NBAE, NBC and MSG covered the event. All participants were given tickets for their families to attend Knicks vs. Celtics home opener as well as t-shirts, towels, posters and autographs.


12/21 & 12/22 Knicks “Ticket Taxi” promotions were conducted with Knicks alumni John Starks & John Wallace in front of MSG prior to the preseason game and outside of Chase Banks in Manhattan where fans answered trivia in the Knicks Groove Truck & Kia for a chance to win Opening Day tickets.


12/22 Knicks Social Media “Opening Week Scavenger Hunt” with the Knicks Groove Truck/Kia & Street Team at NYC locations including Union Square Park, Herald Square leading fans to the Chase branch on 48th & 5th Avenue.  Fans followed social media messaging to track down the Knicks event team at NYC locations and delivered the specific  “catch phrases” to be rewarded with Knicks Opening Day tickets & Fan Pack items (pins, towels, arm sleeves, T shirts etc).


12/23 Knicks Season of Giving Toy Donation at the Harlem Hospital – Nazareth Homeless Shelter in Harlem. Knicks Alumni John Starks, John Wallace and Cal Ramsey appear in partnership with the Rucker Pro Legends / Each One Teach One Youth Basketball groups of Harlem to spread cheer to children and families. Participants will receive toys for the holidays as well as Knicks items (pins, towels, arm sleeves, shirts etc).

12/25 Knicks Home Opener – Knicks Holiday Festival presented by Chase in the entrance mall space area leading up to the Box Office at Madison Square Garden from 10:00 am – 12 noon.  Knicks Alumni Earl Monroe, Walt Frazier, John Starks, John Wallace & Cal Ramsey to appear with the Knicks City Dancers, 7th Avenue Squad, Knicks City Kids and Knicks Street Team along with Santa and the Radio City Rockettes.  Attendees will receive Knicks giveaway items and enjoy holiday themed and interactive elements to include:

  • Alumni/Knicks City Dancer autograph tables
  • Photo stations for fans within the “Knicks Interactive Locker Room”
  • Photo stations for fans within a Holiday Winter Wonderland
  •  Inflatable pop-a-shot games
  • ‘Dance, Dance, Revolution’
  • Face Painters
  • Balloon hat makers
  • Knicks Nutcrackers w player jerseys
  • Music provided by Holiday Carolers and a Holiday Stilt Walking acoustic band
